Course Overview
DAX, or Data Analysis eXpressions, is the data modeling language used by Power BI and Power Pivot for Excel. When you know how to write DAX formulas, you can access the hidden information from deep within the data, and then visualize your data in Power BI to extract the business value. In this training course, you will learn everything you need to know to start your journey of extracting data insights from Power BI using the DAX language.
Everyone that is competent in Excel can learn how to become good at Power BI by learning and using DAX. This is a video version of the same training course that Matt Allington has been delivering in Australia to live classes for more than 5 years.
Unlike some other learning resources, this course dives into the details of the DAX language, teaching you everything you need to know to get started on your journey to analyze your data using Power BI. DAX can be difficult to pick up and understand if you are trying to teach yourself. In this course you will get expert guidance direct from Matt Allington (one of the best DAX trainers in the business).
Who this course is for
This is a beginner’s course and doesn’t require any programming experience. It is recommended, however, that you have a solid understanding of Pivot Tables and/or how to use Power BI to visualize data that has been prepared for you by someone else. You should consider completing Matt’s companion course, Foundations of Power BI – Data to Dashboard, prior to beginning this course. (Although it is not mandatory, most people do both courses.)
Business analysts who are venturing into self-service business intelligence using Power BI or Power Pivot for Excel.
IT professionals that want to fast-track their learning of the DAX language and data modelling.
People that have to report on and analyze data that has not been prepared for them in advance by someone else
This course was developed and is delivered in video by Matt Allington. Matt is a career expert in data and analytics, and is one of the most experienced Power BI and DAX teachers in the world today.
